**3rd-ANNUAL FAMILY-FRIENDLY OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY **

**WE HAVE HUGE NEEDS, PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING**

We need your help to make up a food item, fill a backpack, volunteer, or make a monetary donation, and most importantly please pray for God to be glorified :-)  Here are all the pictures from last year’s picnic :-)

We are so excited to announce that we will be doing our monthly feeding the homeless/less fortunate, but for August, we will be doing an outdoor picnic.  This is our 2nd-annual event.   This will still be held at St. Lucas Church, 745 Walbridge, Toledo, OH, from 4 to 5:30.  We will be cooking out, giving away backpacks, and possibly a bounce house. We received a permit to block off Frank Street so the picnic will ALL be outside.  In addition, we have had to hire 2 Toledo Police Officers ($75 for each one so a total of $150).  We did this just for safety reason.  We are in need of much food, backpacks, volunteers, etc.  If you cannot make a dish, please consider making a monetary donation, we need to raise approximately $500 to make this happen.   Last year we served well over 300 people, so we are anticipating a little more this year.  Neighbors will be able to smell the delicious food we are cooking out and they will see we are having a FREE, FUN event.  Due to that, we will also need more volunteers.  We have had many say they cannot help due to summer being so busy and we appreciate that and completely  understand, but please remember, people are still hungry in the summer so any help you can give is greatly appreciated!! This is for the entire family so feel free to bring your children.  We have a  sign-up sheet for all item that we need.   PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE NOTES BESIDE EACH ITEM YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR SO YOU PROVIDE THE CORRECT QUANTITY NEEDED!! ALSO, ANYONE THAT SIGNS UP TO VOLUNTEER, WILL ALSO NEED TO BRING AN ITEM FROM THE LIST DUE TO LIMITED RESOURCES.

FreeTastesGood Outreach Opportunities for 2016!!

2016-OUTREACH

OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES – 2016!!

If you have been following the blog for long, you know we provide a monthly meal for the homeless/less fortunate and we also started a FREE Laundry Project, where we go to local laundromats and provide FREE Laundry for families in need. It has become a cool thing watching God at work and lives impacted. We have the 2016 Outreach Opportunity Schedule. In addition, this year, we have added a special monthly project to bless an organization in our area, etc.  We are very excited about this.  Each month, I will post a sign up sheet for the events. For the meals I am just posting the main dish, but we always provide a large selection of side dishes for each meal. We are also always in need of monetary donations to help with the outreaches.

Warm the City of Toledo – BIG Success!!

1d

WARMING THE CITY OF TOLEDO BY TYING SCARVES, HATS, GLOVES, AND SOCKS (Socks Donated by Hannah’s Socks) to trees in Downtown Toledo for our Homeless Friends! Thanks also to Carla Woodell for her wonderful donation of our cards we attached to each scarf :-)

scarves-card

Such a fun time today.  We started this project over 3 months ago but due to the unseasonably warm weather we held off until today to do it.  We collected a total of 102 scarves and socks (some had hats and gloves in them also) It is amazing to see how many people gave of their Saturday to come out and help and so many brought their children.  God is sooooo good!! Here is a picture of all the volunteers from today :-)

1d
We always start any project off in prayer asking for God’s guidance and for him to bless everyone that received a scarf and everyone that took time to donate, knit, crochet, volunteer, or pray over this project to be blessed.  More than anything else for God’s name to be glorified in all we do, because all the Praise and Glory belong to him.

1d
I loved watching everyone find the perfect tree to tie the scarves too, knowing as we walked around I continued to pray for everyone that will/would receive a scarf and the other items.

We pulled off and sat in the car and watched people taking the scarves. My heart is so happy!! It was absolutely beautiful watching. A mom walked up and took one for her son and bent down and put it on him!
1d
A man and 2 women grabbed one and the smiles on their face said it all. Everyone that we saw take one, went from tree to tree to find the perfect scarf probably not even realizing all of those scarves were prayed over just for them.

1d
There was one man walking and looking at the pink ones (he was wearing shorts). I put my arm around him and asked if he wanted one that wasn’t pink lol and he said no that’s okay. Isaiah had 1 left that he had not hung because God already knew that guy was supposed to get it. When we were sitting we saw him with the scarf around him. Melted my heart. Another guy grabbed one and then went to the bus stop and was putting the new pair of socks on at the bus stop!  Things that we so often take for granted.  (Thank you Hannah’s sock for making your generous donation)

1d
I LOVE watching God at work and how he can use each of us for HIS glory!!!! If any of you knit or crochet, please considering helping us get ready for next year!!  Nancy (as pictured below) and her mom knitted several for us.  We will be collecting yarn so they can start knitting already.  If you are interested in making a donation, please mail to Free Tastes Good, PO Box 312, Sylvania, OH  43560 and I will get the yarn to Nancy.

1d
When we left, Jamie and I and the kids were talking and we originally said our goal was for 300 next year, but then I said God-sized dreams – and we all agreed, 1000 – 2000 – why think 300 when we serve a BIG God – a God that created the universe. Thank you all for your love and support – you guys are the BEST and this was a BIG success.  I hope many of you will start helping us collect for next year for our 2nd Annual Warming the City of Toledo.

FreeTastesGood Outreach Opportunities

As most of you know we do our monthly FREE community meals (feeding the homeless/less fortunate) and the FREE Laundry Days (every other month) where we go into a laundromat and provide 3 hours of FREE laundry. We will continue all of this in 2016, but are excited to announce that we are adding a few more outreach opportunities. Each month we will have one “SPECIAL” Project for EVERYONE on the page to get involved with. You can either send the items to us (Free Tastes Good, PO Box 312, Sylvania, OH 43560) or you can reach out to your own community. This is just another way for us to Pass the Blessing on and share what we have with others – Matthew 25:40 and Luke 3:11

Here is what we will be doing:

January - Donating diapers and wipes to a Pregnancy Center, Heartbeat of Toledo, or a family you know in need for Sanctity of Life Month – most of you know my story of abortion.

February – We will be making up Birthday Boxes (filled shoeboxes)- similar to Operation CHRISTmas Child, but they will include a Birthday Cake, frosting, candles, and a few gifts for boys and girls. We have many children that come to our FREE Community meals that tell us it is their birthday, so this is a cool way to celebrate with them.

March – Hygiene Care Packages (Blessing Bags) and Easter Baskets for our FREE Community Easter Dinner.

April – Seeds for Community Garden

MayPLEASE SHARE ANY IDEAS YOU MAY HAVE :-)

June – Donate Laundry Detergent to Broken Chains Church. This is a church that ministers to many homeless people. They have a washer and dryer and allow these people to do their laundry for FREE at their church. I would love to bless them by supplying all their laundry detergent, etc for a year.

July - Our annual backpack drive for our FB and blog family

August - PJ/Book/stuffed animal Drive to give to less fortunate children

September – Feminine Care Products for our friends at Glenwood Elementary. Many of the children at this school do not have access to these products.

November – Hygiene Care Packages (Blessing Bags) to hand out at our FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner

December – Blankets, Scarves, hats, gloves, socks, chapstick for our 2nd annual Warm the City of Toledo Project where we will be tying these to trees for our homeless friends.
