Today, I challenge everyone to tape a baggie with change to a parking meter (of course if you don’t have any near you, you could do something else similar to this)  The amount can be as small as $0.25 or $1 or more! Imagine how surprised someone will be to walk up to a vending machine and find FREE money. I might add, this could be a huge blessing for some. We also attached the FREE Act of Kindness Cards that (YOU CAN PRINT BY CLICKING HERE). The purpose of printing the cards is that the recipient can then recycle it and pass the card on by doing another random act of kindness. My vision is that this will continue and continue until EVERYONE is involved in some capacity. Who’s in? I am praying that everyone gets involved in this. None of us can help everyone, but all of us can help someone, and when we do we serve Jesus. We can make an impact in our communities, one life at a time!!

**DAY 13CHALLENGE**

1

Today, I challenge everyone to  go to an ATM machine and tape some money. It can be any amount, but just a small act of kindness to share with someone. How many of you have ever went to the ATM knowing you didn’t have much you could withdraw, but you needed it? Imagine what a blessing this could turn into. Again, no amount is too small!! We always pray that God picks the “perfect” person to receive the gift and that they would be blessed by it. I taped a 365 Days of Kindness card inside so the person receiving it can pass it on –  (YOU CAN PRINT THE CARDS BY CLICKING HERE). The purpose of printing the cards is that the recipient can then recycle it and pass the card on by doing another random act of kindness.  My vision is that this will continue and continue until EVERYONE is involved in some capacity.    Who’s in? I am praying that everyone gets involved in this. blanket
Today, I challenge everyone to donate a blanket and a bag of hot cocoa/cookies to the homeless. We purchased 20  blankets and a friend of ours donated 10 more blankets during Black Friday, and we made up bags with cookies and hot cocoa and also included a $5 gift card (Isaiah and Jonah purchased these with their birthday money!) and we will be driving around and delivering these today. We also included one of the 365 Days of Kindness cards  HERE or make your own.  We prayed over these for God to have us deliver to the “perfect person”. Who’s in? I am praying that everyone gets involved in this. None of us can help everyone, but all of us can help someone, and when we do we serve Jesus. Darling Mensing’s CHRISTmas Miracle – Donations still be accepting for their porch fund!

DARLING MENSING’S CHRISTmas Miracle – 2015

Beginning of video is Darling reading her letter to 101.5 and at 2.50 mark is the song our friend, Jimmy Lewis, wrote and sang (info at bottom to contact Jimmy)& Deanna Lamb from Broken Chains Church, video production

As most of you know, Darling Mensing wrote a letter to MaryBeth and Rick 101.5 The River about her CHRISTmas wish. Darling has stage IV pancreatic cancer and she was asking for help with siding on their 100+ year-old farmhouse, which was her great grand-parents as well as (if at all possible) a wraparound porch. MaryBeth presented the letter to me to see if we could help (since they were unable to) and she knew Jamie was very handy. I was 100% confident this was from God as I had just come off a fast and we agreed to help. I immediately posted on FB to see if anyone knew how to do the siding and we received several responses. Jamie and 9 other guys headed out on Sunday, December 13 and met up with Charlie (Dar’s Husband). I went out and met Darling later in the morning and my goodness, I immediately fell in love with her. She reminded me so much of my mom. She grabbed my hand and I felt such a warmth go through my body. I knew without hesitation that this was God. After meeting her, I told her we would make sure the porch got done too. I was not sure how it was going to happen, but I knew God did :-) I called WTOL NEWS 11 and they came out and did a story and within the next 24 hours I had over 100+ responses from people stating they were willing to come out the next weekend, December 20th, to help in whatever capacity they could, from food, to volunteering to help, to praying, and so much more. It was so cool watching so many people come out to help. It was truly ONLY SOMETHING God could orchestrate – nothing to do with me or Jamie but EVERYTHING to do with God. Through Christ ALL things are possible. We had many laughs along the way including the first time I hugged Charlie, a very awkward hug for him, as he is not a hugger and he let me know LOL:) Jamie and I knew that we had met lifelong friends. Charlie and Darling are amazing and so are their children. They are all so special to our family and I am confident Charlie will eventually get used to my hugs!! The porch was finished CHRISTmas Eve with some other finishing touches that have been done. In addition, all the money was not raised for the porch so we are still accepting donations for the materials, etc.  The Saturday after CHRISTmas Kelly Lindsay went out and did a photo shoot of the family on the porch and in the meantime, Jamie and I knew we wanted to do one more thing and that was make a final video with a song to present to the family. My friend, Jimmy Lewis, is a musician and he wrote and sang the song – AMAZING :-) It was so much more than I ever expected. It was perfect. It was so personal to the family and it gave me God-bumps. God has been all over this project from Darling writing the letter to the song that I still just stand in Awe of his goodness. As most of you know (or maybe you don’t) I am not a good secret keeper, so not being able to share this song until tonight has been soooooo hard for me. I had no intention of letting Micah hear the song ahead of time, but on Friday I text him to see if he wanted to hear it, he declined and said he wanted to hear it when all of his family did. Now that is discipline LOL:) Tonight, Jamie and I and the kids went over to Dar and Charlie’s house for dinner with them and their kids and gave them the song. My heart is just so full of joy and overwhelmed with emotions. This family is one of the sweetest, most special families I have ever met. They are all AWESOME. I am so excited to be able to share it with all of you. What we witnessed this CHRISTmas was a true Miracle – only something God could make happen – All things are possible through Christ. As most of you also know, a gofundme account was started to help offset the supplies, but to date only 83% of that goal has been met, so I am asking for each of you to donate $5 (if you are able) so they can reach 100% of their goal.

Let’s give them this final blessing – you can make donations at gofundme.com/darchristmaswish I know it would mean so much to the family. Thank you all for being a part of this MIRACLE with us. I love you all more than you know and appreciate each and everyone of you. Please continue to pray for Darling as she continues to receive chemo. A HUGE thank you also to Jimmy Lewis for this special song and also a thank you to my friend, Deanna, for making the video. I so blessed by all of you.

**DAY 7 CHALLENGE**

365 Days of Kindness
Today, I challenge everyone to go into a public restroom and place a packet of baby wipes on the baby changer. This is such an easy task to do and could be a huge blessing to a parent. In the last month or so we have had many opportunities to pick up FREE/CHEAP baby wipes.  I also attached a 365 Days of Kindness card. (YOU CAN PRINT THE CARDS BY CLICKING HERE).  The object of this is that they will receive it and use the card to do another act of kindness.  None of us can help everyone, but all of us can help someone, and when we do we serve Jesus and lives can be changed by small acts of kindness!!  It is such a cool way to show the love of Jesus.

Acts of Kindness ~ Feeding the Least of These ~ Matthew 25:40!!

6
Luke 14:12-14 NIV “Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Amen.

Another amazing day. I truly just stand in awe of God’s goodness at each of these events. First and foremost all the glory to God. I cannot tell each and everyone of you how wonderful it was to see so many of you there volunteering. I missed you all so much and it felt so good to be back at it in full force. This is one of my favorite days of the month. I look forward to it all month long and sharing with so many of you is truly priceless. As I shared before we prayed today, I love you all more than you even know. Truly you all have touched my heart in more ways than I even think you realize. We served well over 200 people today, probably closer to 250.

1f

We gave away 51 Easter Baskets to the kids and over 130 care packages. The whole day went so well and I appreciate how much everyone came together and just worked. As always, I know some jobs are not that much fun (i.e. washing the dishes, LOL) but today they were done with JOY and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. The most amazing thing to me is when we open the doors and we have over 50 people waiting for the doors to be opened. I love serving, fellowshipping, and loving on everyone. We had Catherine Steele there from Proclaim FM and she brought her guitar and sang – what a sweet voice.

3

Danielle and Vanessa as always make sure things run smoothly so I can just wonder around and visit with so many of the people we are serving. It was so good to see Tiffany, who is still recovering from surgery, but she and Brad were still there serving. Oh I cannot even tell you guys how much I missed you all. So many things touched me today but I think what touched me the most is when 3 of our homeless friends asked how I was feeling, they told me they had been praying for me. Truly my eyes filled with tears because I am dealing with anxiety and they are homeless and praying for me. What a mighty testimony to me. Pastor Billmeier from the church is also so special to Jamie and me. I cannot even explain how much we love him. He informed me that someone came to the healing service last week to pray for me. Yes, someone showed up to have them pray for me at a healing service. Wow, how AMAZING is that. I cannot even begin to thank each and everyone of you for the prayers and love you have all sent my way. It means so much to me and my family. Craig, one of our absolute favorite people showed up and we were able to visit with him. Craig is family to us and we love him so much. He even donated some laundry detergent for the next FREE laundry day. You see this isn’t about feeding people, this is more about forming friendships and loving on people. Eric and Phyllis who we adore told us they missed us last month.

7

We were able to pray for Michael who is going through a very difficult time. Please pray for him as well as he just became homeless. God is doing mighty things in this community and we are blessed to be a part of it. None of this is possible without all of you volunteering, making dishes, making monetary donations, and praying over the event. I am so humbled by what is going on and Praise God each and every day for the blessings he has given us and thank him for all the people who show up each month that we are able to serve. As most of you know I love children and to bend down and give a big hug to a small child just melts my heart. So much joy is felt at this dinner. Lives are being impacted, not just those receiving the meal, but those of us serving the meal. Thank you to Nancy who cooked the 4 hams for us today. It helped out so much. We had several new volunteers today and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. I am sorry I was not able to spent much time with you all, but please know your help is so appreciated. Neil and Jen are amazing. They both just step up and do whatever is needed. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! We had a concern today that people started tearing down the tables before the meal was over and was told “Nothing says leave more than taking down tables and chairs before the guest are done” so I think we need to maybe reevaluate that next time so everyone feels welcome the entire time. We want everyone to know they are welcome. We know it was not intentional and that is not what was meant by it, but we want everyone to know they don’t have to pack up and leave :-)

5

Our next meal will be Sunday, April 19th and I will try to get the sign up sheet posted early this week (God willing). Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help you all give each month. My prayer continues to be for God to bless each and everyone of you. I love you all more than you even know!!

365 Days of Kindness ~ Week #6 ~ PASS THE BLESSING ON:)

365 DAYS OF KINDNESS – WEEK #6 ~ PASS THE BLESSING ON :)

We are on our third year, week six of our 365 Days of Kindness Challenge.   This has been a fun week of random acts of kindness as you can see in the video above. We love to make this a  family affair and have our kids participate in each act that we do or they can choose one they like to do.  We had a snow storm this week and we dropped off a box of bath tissue to our good friends as they ran out last year during the snow storm so it was a fun thing for the kids to do. They dropped it on the porch and ding dong ditched them LOL :-) We have our kids partaking in all the events so they can see the importance of passing the blessing on and helping others.  You can tweak each act however you like or change the order, but these are just simply suggestions and ideas.  As most of you know, we are BIG on giving back to our community and showing God’s love to as many as we can.  Many of these acts of kindness cost very little and some are even FREE.  Our goal is to change our communities, one act of kindness at a time.  We always pray before we do our acts and ask God to bless the recipient.  Matthew 25:40.  If you have ideas and/or suggestions, please comment and let us know. We are excited to see what God has in store for year #3 of the 365 Days of Kindness.

Random Acts of Kindness

We always attach one of the 365 Days of Kindness Cards.  The purpose of printing the cards is that the recipient can then recycle it and pass the card on by doing another random act of kindness.  They can also come to the page and tell their story of giving and/or receiving the blessing.  Our vision is that each card will be passed to 365 people each year.  Print the FREE Act of Kindness Cards by CLICKING HERE

365-days-of-kindness-week-6

Below are all the acts of kindness that we will be doing for week #6

  • Day 33 – Take a Care Package to a Friend or Neighbors House and Ding Dong Ditch them :-)
  • Day 34 – Make up Food Care Packages and take to the Ronald McDonald House or Hospital
  • Day 35 – Text or send a handwritten note to someone who has made a difference in your life.
  • Day 37 – Send a “thinking of you” or “encouraging” card to a complete stranger by using the white pages on the computer. (By the end of the year our goal is for EVERYONE to have sent a card to a stranger in every state) – CLICK HERE to see how we pick that RANDOM person.
  • Day 38 – Bake cookies or cupcakes or any treat (even store bought) and take to a public service worker, i.e. fire station, police station, etc.
  • Day 39 – Donate 5-items (nonperishable or hygienic) to a local food bank, shelter, or family you may know in need.
