**JONAH’S STORY, A STORY OF HOPE**
Not coupon related – but I hope you find hope in Jonah’s story –
Jonah’s team lost at the State Cup Semi-Final game today, but they played really well. Last week when they were up against the same team they lost 14-1 and today they lost 7-1 but played a much better game. Last night before Jonah went to bed he prayed and asked God to keep them all healthy and just to protect each of them and then he ended and said “God this is the most important game I have ever played in.” It melted my heart, because honestly Jonah already won the most important game of his life and that was overcoming his cerebral palsy. Most of you might already know Jonah’s story, but those of you that don’t I want to share why I talk so much about Jonah and Soccer. We picked Jonah up from the hospital when he was 5 days old. His birth mother was shooting up drugs and delivered in the parking lot at a local hospital. Jonah was then lifeflighted to a trauma center were he continued to have seizures due to his drug withdrawals. Jonah had several neurological app’ts, tests, and we were told he had a stroke at birth and his neurologist diagnosed him with cerebral palsy. We were told we really needed to think before we adopted him, because it was likely he would never walk or talk. Jamie and I both knew God placed this precious little man in our family and there was no way we would ever consider not adopting him. You see adoption to us wasn’t a choice, he was a gift from God, the same gift as giving birth to a child. The neurologist continued to tell us to encourage Jonah to play with soccer balls, etc to get him to loosen up his muscle tone. He went through physical therapy and all sorts of treatments as well as he was prayed over by 100s of people from our church daily and by our pastors. At 10 months old, Jonah started to walk and everywhere he went he had a soccer ball with him. So when I sit at a soccer game and watch Jonah run up and down the field (I might add, he is extremely fast and many of the parents call him spider man as he gets knocked down, but gets right back up LOL) I just sit there thanking God. Thanking him for the miracle that he performed in Jonah’s life. It didn’t matter to Jamie and I if Jonah walked or talked, because the minute we received the call that he was being placed in our family, we fell in love with him. We prayed daily for any placement we received and always believed God hand picked each child for our family. We are so proud of Jonah. He is a very compassionate and loving young man. He loves Jesus more than anything. The coach sent the boys a video to watch and it ended with “put on the full armor of God, from the helmet to the sandals” and that stuck with Jonah. We told him today, the score didn’t matter, as long as he went out there and played the best that he could and represented Christ in a positive light, that was more important than anything else. As I watched him run today, I just sat and stood in amazement of God’s faithfulness. This little boy that should not be walking and/or talking is not only walking and talking, but he is running full speed up and down the field, stealing the ball from other kids, and shooting. .. yes, he had a stroke, and is predominantly a lefty, but other than his right arm weakness, he has no signs of cerebral palsy. No matter what any doctor tells you or your family, please know the greatest physician is God and he has the ability to completely restore our bodies. Don’t ever underestimate the power of prayer, because Miracles happen every day and if you don’t believe in miracles, come watch our son, Jonah, walk, talk, and run. . and you will be witnessing a miracle. I cannot tell you how proud I am of all of our children and how thankful I am to God for entrusting me and Jamie with our 7 children. They say our children will learn from us, and that is true, but I can also tell you we have learned so much from our children and the biggest thing is ALWAYS HAVE HOPE AND BELIEVE – ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH CHRIST!! May you all be encouraged by Jonah’s story!! Thank you all for letting me share!!
