Because I am pretty much an open book I would like to share something with you all. As my book is being featured and getting a lot of publicity my heart has been so overjoyed, yet filled w/some sadness. You see I lost my mom almost 18 years ago to cancer and my dad 10 years ago. My dad taught me a lot growing up and I dedicated the book to him. We didn’t have much money, but my dad worked his tail off to give us kids all that he could. I can remember him working 12-14 hours and still coming home and sitting down and playing aggravation or monopoly with my brothers and sister. He was a very moral man, never went to church, but he raised us to respect adults, treat others as you wanted to be treated, and never look down on anyone. My dad was adopted by his mom’s dad and had a very rough upbringing, but he loved us kids so much. He also taught us that money didn’t grow on trees (hahaha), but that you had to work for it and never to overspend. He did truly teach us the value of money. When Jamie and I figured out couponing it made me think so much of my dad, because I knew he would have been so excited to go on a couponing trip with me (well maybe just one time, LOL:). He always said I had to go overboard on everything I did. After losing both of my parents, my mom’s best friend has stepped up a lot. She ALWAYS sends us a birthday card, a CHRISTmas and Easter Card, and always sends us a card on my parent’s anniversaries of their deaths. She and my mom were best friends for 52 years (my mom died at 56). At my mom’s funeral she had 52 yellow roses on my mom’s casket. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever experienced. She sat with my mom when my mom was in a coma talking to her and reminiscing their childhood. . . even though my mom couldn’t talk back and was totally comatose. Well today I was sitting on the couch having a pity party and crying and telling Jamie how much I missed my parents. That I just so wished they could have seen how God was using us. When my dad passed, he told me he always knew I was different and he figured out what it was. . He said “You have the Lord in your life”. He then proceeded to tell me, he knew God would use me in a special way. So after I got done crying like a big old baby I came out in the office and got on my personal FB page and this is the message I received from my mom’s best friend, Judy, Judy wrote: “you are the best… wish Mom and Dad was here to see this!”. . she was referring to TLC promoting the book on TV. All I can say is when we ask God always gives us that sign. To me, she was speaking through my mom and dad. . . the timing was PERFECT. Thank you Jesus!!! I don’t think it matters how old you get, there is nothing like your mom and dad. I am so blessed that Judy has loved us like her own kids and watched out for me and my 3 siblings. I am so blessed and I just stand in awe of God’s goodness and how he always shows up (well he is there always), but in a BIG way when we need him most and I just needed HIM today. . Thanks for letting me share!! Love you guys!!
