As most of you know, Kevin (Special K) Daley {Harlem Globetrotters 10 year veteran} has become a very special person to our family. I reached out to him last year when our son, Isaiah, was being bullied at school and he responded by calling Isaiah on the phone. This touched our family in a very special way. We began to speak to him more regularly and then in May, Kevin made a visit to Isaiah’s school as the bullying progressed. He impacted Isaiah’s life in so many ways and to be completely honest, he impacted our entire family. To think he took the time out of his busy schedule to come spend a day with Isaiah was simply AWESOME. Isaiah now calls him his “Big Bro”. Kevin is an amazing person. He cares about others. He doesn’t just walk the walk, he puts his words into action. He called Isaiah before school started this year to give him a pep talk. Isaiah knows he can call Kevin if he needs him. That is a pretty cool feeling for a 12-year-old boy to know he can call his “HERO”. Kevin has compassion for others and that is why his autobiography is so inspiring. To read about his life, you know instantly why he is such a loving man. He faced much adversity growing up and he could have easily given up or taken on the “victim mentality”. Instead he chose to overcome everything and make something out of his life by giving to others. He is the “real deal” and I am so honored to know him and call him “friend”.
